Showtime is 3pm, and all proceeds will benefit the Citadel Dance and Music Center’s operations. Hope you have a chance to catch the spirit of the season with all of the performers. The Livery is at 190 Fifth Street in the city.

Congratulations are in order for the crew at We Care Meals on Wheels serving Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties. The team has won an essay contest which will provide additional grant funding to provide meals for local senior citizens in need. It’s all a part of the Meals on Wheels Association of America/Subara “Share the Love” grant program! In the winning essay, the local folks, based with JA Food Service in downtown Benton Harbor, described how meal delivery allowed a family and their pet to remain in their home together. Up next in the contest is a holiday competition to get the most Facebook users to “Like” their story. If they win that portion of the contest, they could earn an additional $500 grant. Subaru’s “Share the Love Event” was launched shortly before Thanksgiving and ends on the Monday immediately after New Years. Obviously, the Meals on Wheels folks share the love every day by bringing food and companionship to America’s hungry seniors. To “Like” the local essay and help them win the bonus money, go to www.mowaablog.org and seek out “We Care Meals on Wheels.” (It was #67 when I clicked like…I don’t know if that’s a steady number or if it changes. Read carefully…as most of them have Meals on Wheels in their names) Everything you can do to help is deeply appreciated!

Organizers of the 31st Annual Home, Garden & Leisure Show have launched the recruitment process as they work to line up new exhibitors and sponsors for the big show coming to the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center in Benton Harbor. The 2011 event is themed Season of Renewal – Bringing New Ideas Home. It is slated to take place from March 18th through the 20th and is expected to feature nearly 100 exhibitors and special guests. Coordinator of Exhibits, Mike Nadolski, says this year’s show will feature innovative companies offering new products and services at the Innovation Station, which is designated as a special exhibit and demonstration area. Prime exhibit space remains available and information on what’s up for grabs is online at www.swmhomeshow.com. You can also call 269-861-0055 to reserve space or get your questions answered. The show is sponsored this year by Changing Seasons Nursery, The Herald-Palladium and WSJM Radio, and, as always is hosted by the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors and the Southwestern Michigan Home Builders Association.

As plug-in electric vehicles like the Chevy Volt or the Nissan Leaf roll off the assembly lines and into showrooms, Indiana Michigan Power is working to insure that its customers can make the transition to electric-powered transportation without any major bumps in the road. They recently announced special pricing that will encourage vehicle owners to recharge their batteries at night or on weekends when the overall demand for electricity is lower. They are also offering the first 250 customers who buy or lease one, a reimbursement of up to $2,500 toward the purchase and installation of a home charging station. The incentives become effective on January 1, 2011. For more information, contact I&M at 1-800-311-6424 or your local auto dealer.

That’s it for this week, kids. T-minus one week and counting to do your Christmas shopping locally! See you Saturday, right here in MailMax!
